After 30 years of thrills, the Adventure Landing<\/a> waterpark and arcade in Jacksonville Beach has closed.<\/p>\n

Oct. 14 was the last day of operation at the park, its waterslides, wave pool and lazy river. The Haunt Nights<\/a> Halloween attraction, scheduled to run through Nov. 1 at the park, has also been canceled.<\/p>\n

“For 30 amazing years, it has been the privilege of a lifetime to serve the Jacksonville community,” said Hank Woodburn, who opened the park in 1995. “We’ve been honored to be part of countless birthday parties, family traditions, and year-round memories. Watching generations of families create joy together \u2014 from parents who visited as children now bringing their own kids \u2014 has been an extraordinary blessing from God. Being an integral part of the fabric of Jacksonville Beach and this wonderful community has meant everything to our entire Adventure Landing family.”<\/p>\n

Park operators had been leasing the property at 1944 Beach Blvd. since it was\u00a0sold for $7.87 million in Feb. 2021<\/a>\u00a0to a developer planning to\u00a0replace the amusement park<\/a>\u00a0with a 415-unit luxury apartment complex. The site consists of just over 22 acres of land located on the south side of Beach Boulevard just east of the Beach Boulevard Intracoastal Waterway bridge. The park originally was set to close Oct. 31, 2021, but its lease was extended several times since then.<\/p>\n

Gift certificates, game tokens and arcade tickets can still be used at the Adventure Landing location in St. Augustine<\/a>. The company also runs parks in Kansas, Ohio, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, and Texas.<\/p>\n

A dedicated web page<\/a> has been set up for fans of the park to share photos and memories of the past three decades.<\/p>\n
