JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2013 It\u2019s the start of Thanksgiving week, and we\u2019re watching a Dense Fog Advisory in effect for our area this Monday morning.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re getting an early head start on the roads or heading to the airport, you\u2019ve probably already noticed\u2014you can barely see a thing in several spots around Jacksonville.<\/p>\n

Visibility is down, especially in the early morning hours. This is making conditions tricky and even treacherous for anyone traveling before 10 a.m. I can\u2019t say this enough: please allow extra time, take it slow, and make safety your top priority.<\/p>\n

Based on what we see on Exact Track 4D radar and our skycams, the fog is thickest right now but should begin lifting by 9 or 9:30 a.m. It\u2019s expected to clear out significantly by 10 a.m., but until then, flying and driving might bring delays or difficult moments. If your family is planning to travel early, just make sure everyone exercises plenty of caution.<\/p>\n

Current weather: mild and calm<\/p>\n

Outside of the fog, it\u2019s actually very mild this morning. I\u2019m seeing 62 degrees at Doctors Lake Marina, 59 degrees at JAX Airport, and the same at Riverside. Humidity is at 96 to 100 percent, and the wind isn\u2019t doing much of anything right now.<\/p>\n

The big story here is about what you can\u2019t see, not what you can feel\u2014it\u2019s more about the visibility than the temperature or wind.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no rain and no real breeze at the moment, so the only thing we have to watch for is that low-visibility fog until mid-morning. The airport is also dealing with seriously limited visibility; it\u2019s so thick you can see it on the skycam images.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead: rain chances and a chill<\/p>\n

As we move closer to Thanksgiving, I\u2019m tracking a low-pressure system coming in from the Gulf. Right now, it\u2019s expected to track north of us, but it may bring a small chance\u2014just about 20 percent\u2014of showers on Wednesday (Thanksgiving Eve) and Thursday (Thanksgiving Day).<\/p>\n

The good news? It isn\u2019t expected to be an all-day washout, and you likely won\u2019t need to make alternate plans. This low is mostly bringing clouds and maybe a quick shower or two, not a full rain-out.<\/p>\n

Once the front passes, much colder air is expected late in the holiday weekend. I\u2019ll have more details on this as we get closer.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re heading out of town, keep in mind other parts of the country are dealing with bigger issues\u2014flooding in Texas and snow in some northern spots\u2014so check with your airline or travel service for updates.<\/p>\n
