TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A Marianna man has pleaded guilty to introducing contraband into the Federal Detention Center (FDC) in Tallahassee, according to the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office for the Northern District of Florida.<\/p>\n
Bertram Williams, 50, is currently incarcerated at FDC Tallahassee, the attorney\u2019s office wrote in a press release Monday.<\/p>\n
His guilty plea stems from an incident that transpired in April. On April 13, Williams had a visitation session. After the session, Bureau of Prison staff searched him, per the press release.<\/p>\n
However, while searching Williams\u2019 left boot, the staff found \u201ctwo, cylinder-shaped, plastic tubs that were in the cut fingertips of a latex glove,\u201d according to the attorney\u2019s office.<\/p>\n
\u201cInside one cylinder, staff discovered marijuana. In the second cylinder, staff discovered a rolled-up piece of paper saturated in a substance, which field-tested positive for synthetic marijuana,\u201d the press release revealed. \u201cThe substances were also tested at the Florida Department of Law Enforcement laboratory, which confirmed the substance contained marijuana.\u201d<\/p>\n
The 50-year-old faces up to five years in prison and one year of supervised release when he\u2019s sentenced. <\/p>\n
