A Mexican man who’s been deported five times is facing federal charges in South Florida after he was found with tens of thousands of fentanyl pills hidden in a child’s toy, authorities said.<\/p>\n

Guillermo Higuera German, 37, made an initial appearance in federal court on Nov. 17 following an investigation by the DEA and Fort Lauderdale Police, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida said Monday.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors said officers had approached and searched a vehicle driven by Higuera German, and a K-9 alerted officers to narcotics.<\/p>\n

The officers found several boxes and a Sesame Street-style bus toy that were packed with fentanyl pills.<\/p>\n

Authorities said they found 50,000 fentanyl pills hidden in boxes and a child’s toy<\/p>\n

Over 50,000 fentanyl pills were recovering, weighing about five kilograms, authorities said.<\/p>\n

Investigators also determined that Higuera German was illegally in the United States and had already been deported five times.<\/p>\n

Higuera German is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office’s Border and Immigration Crimes Enforcement Section.<\/p>\n
