JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (WJXT) – An 18-year-old fast-food worker in Florida was killed on the job Saturday.<\/p>\n
Police say he was trying to stop a fight inside a Burger King when gunfire erupted.<\/p>\n
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff\u2019s Office, the suspected gunman, Dawud Burritt, walked into the restaurant and got into an argument with another man, Ray Cummings.<\/p>\n
That argument escalated into a physical fight and the Burger King worker, Matthew Jackson, tried to step in and break it up.<\/p>\n
But that\u2019s when Burritt pulled out a gun, causing everyone to run, police said <\/p>\n
Witnesses reported hearing two shots and then seeing Burritt run out of the restaurant. <\/p>\n
Investigators say Jackson was found dead inside the Burger King, with Cummings also located and taken to an area hospital. <\/p>\n
Burritt was taken into custody in connection with the shooting.<\/p>\n
Jacksonville authorities say he is facing two counts of second-degree murder and one count of armed burglary.<\/p>\n
Jackson\u2019s family said they were looking forward to spending Thanksgiving together. His mother said her son was a senior at Riverside High School and planned to join the Marines after graduating.<\/p>\n
Detectives are still working to confirm the complete timeline. Investigators said Cummings told them that he and Burritt had a falling out about a year ago.<\/p>\n
