FORT PIERCE, Fla. (CBS12) \u2014 Police identified the 23-year-old man fatally shot in Fort Pierce<\/a> on Monday. <\/p>\n

The Fort Pierce Police Department (FPPD) announced on Tuesday that Gregory Carson was fatally shot near 1200 North 27th Street. <\/p>\n

Investigators say an altercation involving a group of men occurred before Carson sustained a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police believe this was an isolated incident and report there is no active threat to the public.<\/p>\n

The suspected shooter is described as a young Black male, medium complexion, about 6 feet tall, with a slender build and short haircut. At the time of the shooting, he was wearing a black T-shirt, black skull cap, and gray joggers.<\/p>\n

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has information to contact the Fort Pierce Police Department at 772-467-6800 or Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-800-273-8477.<\/p>\n
