ORLANDO, Fla. \u2013 Residents of Orlando\u2019s Reeves Terrace neighborhood received Thanksgiving turkeys Tuesday evening as part of District 4 City Commissioner Patty Sheehan\u2019s 20th annual turkey distribution event, meeting an increased need amid rising food costs and changes to food assistance programs.<\/p>\n
The giveaway, held at the Mayor Carl T. Langford Neighborhood Center, drew long lines before the 5 p.m. start time, highlighting the growing demand for food assistance in the community.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s very popular this year because a lot of people are hurting and food costs are really, really high,\u201d Commissioner Sheehan said, noting that significant crowds had gathered before the event began.<\/p>\n

The Carroll Adams Group provided additional bags of non-perishable side items to help complete the Thanksgiving meals.<\/p>\n Recipients expressed gratitude for the assistance, with some planning to extend the generosity further. <\/p>\n One resident shared plans to prepare meals for elderly neighbors, saying, \u201cIt will help us to help others.
