As we previously reported, Universal Orlando Resort has confirmed there will be \u201cconstruction activity\u201d in the Lost Continent area of Universal Islands of Adventure, potentially for a brand new land.<\/p>\n

Universal Orlando Resort has filed a brand new permit for the Lost Continent Project (UO P555). In the permit details, 7 acres total have been described as \u201cRenovation of an existing commercial use\u201d. <\/p>\n

Universal has not shared any additional details about what demolition or construction is planned for the 7 acres mentioned.<\/p>\n

Lost Continent Demolition\"Visitors\"Visitors<\/a><\/p>\n

Last month, we reported from the Orlando Business Journal that Universal had filed a permit to demolish five acres of land at Universal Islands of Adventure. Universal told the outlet that there would be construction in the Lost Continent.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the coming months, there will be construction activity in Lost Continent as part of site planning to ensure the area is ready for any future developments,\u201d said Director of Public Relations Kristen Smith in an emailed statement to\u00a0OBJ<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Lost Continent is one of the eight themed islands of Universal Islands of Adventure. It was partially demolished and taken over by The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in 2010. Its last remaining attractions, The Eighth Voyage of Sinbad and Poseidon\u2019s Fury, closed in 2018 and 2023 respectively. However, the former\u2019s theater has remained intact with set pieces fully visible<\/a>, while there has been no apparent construction at the site of Poseidon\u2019s Fury. The recently-filed permit could be early signs that Universal will demolish both attractions for good.<\/p>\n

Universal Destinations & Experiences CEO Mark Woodbury has repeatedly mentioned plans for expansion at Universal Orlando Resort<\/a> in the past few months. Though he\u2019s emphasized room for expansion at their new theme park, Epic Universe, he\u2019s also mentioned that there are plans for all the Universal Orlando Resort theme parks.<\/p>\n

There have been repeated rumors of a Legend of Zelda expansion<\/a> to Super Nintendo World. The IP could also potentially take over Lost Continent. Meanwhile, many are calling for a Wicked-themed land, and even Woodbury has addressed the possibility<\/a>.<\/p>\n
