FORT PIERCE \u2500\u2500 The Pineapple Playhouse brings a fresh approach to the Charles Dickens\u2019 classic, \u201cA Christmas Carol\u201d this month.<\/p>\n
This adaptation by Michael Paller relies on the theatrical device of the play-within-the-play. Set on Christmas Eve in 19th-century London, Paller\u2019s story unfolds in the home of the author Charles Dickens.<\/p>\n
When his friends and family arrive at the house, eager for him to perform one of his stories for them, he refuses to work on the eve of the big day. If there is going to be a story, he tells his guests, each of them must take part in its telling.<\/p>\n
The story unfolds with an impressive cast of 12 playing no less than 40 roles, switching from character to character both on stage and off. The play drifts in and out of the familiar story while faithfully conveying the magic of Dickens.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Pineapple production is directed by\u00a0Shelley Brietling\u00a0and\u00a0Carolyn Worline.
