\u201cAt the end of the day, people always want to go spend time with their families, go to the mall, go see what the stores are showcasing,\u201d said Madelyn Bello-Calvar, senior marketing sponsor at Dolphin Mall. \u201cNothing better than the holiday season to see and spend time with your family and go shopping and it\u2019s just an experience. You can\u2019t get that online is very quick.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shoppers also poured into Sawgrass Mills Mall early Friday, forming long lines outside some of the mall\u2019s most popular stores as crowds grew steadily throughout the morning.<\/p>\n
By midmorning, lines outside retailers like Lululemon and Tory Burch stretched far beyond their entrances. <\/p>\n
At Lululemon, the line wound so far around the mall that the end was no longer visible. Across the walkway, the line for Tory Burch ran \u201call the way down,\u201d past Saint Laurent.<\/p>\n
Some shoppers have turned the tradition into a team effort. <\/p>\n

A group of women who have waited together for years before Lululemon\u2019s doors open said they\u2019ve developed an annual strategy: they enter as a group, grab what each person needs and regroup.<\/p>\n
About an hour later, they emerged again \u2014 shopping bags in hand.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was able to find half the things I wanted to get, you know, but it\u2019s an outlet, so it\u2019s definitely I was surprised at the prices,\u201d one shopper told Local 10\u2019s Jolena Esperto. \u201cThey were great. Like one Jones, he picked out an expensive jacket and I was afraid because it said $109 on it and it came out to be $44. I was like, OK.\u201d<\/p>\n
Despite the crowds, shoppers described the morning as festive and cooperative.<\/p>\n
Shoppers were advised to plan for long waits throughout the day as lines showed little sign of shrinking.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t like doing stuff online because they take too long,\u201d said shopper Ashton Williams. \u201cIt\u2019s fun socializing with everybody too.\u201d<\/p>\n
Santa Claus was on hand at Aventura Mall, where more than 100 people per hour visited to share their holiday wishes.<\/p>\n
For many shoppers, the draw is the experience itself.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s the tradition that brings us out,\u201d said one father.<\/p>\n
