Your voice matters. You need to tell your state legislators what you think.<\/p>\n

The fact that the state Capitol in Tallahassee is hundreds of miles away is all the more reason why you have to make your voice heard. Most legislators love hearing from their constituents. It helps them make decisions, and it\u2019s just as important for them to hear a contrasting point of view.<\/p>\n

The Legislature\u2019s websites (flsenate.gov<\/a> and flhouse.gov<\/a>) are easy to use. If you want to be heard on a specific bill, use those websites\u2019 search bars to find the bill number and the committees to which it is referred. Then go to those committee pages and find which legislators are on those committees, and contact them. Keep your messages short, specific and factual. Put the bill number, such as HB 113, in the email subject line.<\/p>\n

Twenty-seven people represent Broward and Palm Beach counties in Tallahassee. They include 18 Democrats, seven Republicans and one with no party affiliation. Two House seats, both in Palm Beach, are currently vacant.<\/p>\n

No matter where you live, you have a senator and a representative in the state Capitol.<\/p>\n
