ORLANDO, Fla. \u2013 SunRail is expanding its late-night service by adding two extra trains, starting Monday, offering Central Florida residents more options for getting around.<\/p>\n
\u201cI love how quickly I get to my destination, and I don\u2019t have to worry about the traffic,\u201d Jermaine Alston, a SunRail rider, said about the service.<\/p>\n
The new southbound evening train will extend service later into the night for riders heading southbound. The new northbound mid-evening train offers additional opportunities for riders traveling northbound later in the evening. The late-night southbound train leaves DeLand at 9:55 p.m. and the mid-evening northbound train departs from Poinciana at 8:45 p.m., aiming to better accommodate riders\u2019 schedules.<\/p>\n

Share your photos<\/a>] <\/p>\n Riders appreciate the new service because it gives them more flexibility and allows them to stay out later.<\/p>\n \u201cOh, I love it. That\u2019s going to help me out a lot because I get off kind of late, so now I can \u2014 instead of rushing over here to get on the train \u2014 I could stay out a little, hang out a little later,\u201d Alston said.<\/p>\n To enhance reliability, minor schedule adjustments will be made, mostly by one to two minutes.<\/p>\n Despite the new trains, riders say progress has been slower than they would like, especially since there is still no weekend service \u2014 a feature many have requested since SunRail began operating.<\/p>\n \u201cSaturdays should have been done a long time ago with all the events and things that go on. Sundays, probably the same thing,\u201d rider Terry Harris said.<\/p>\n SunRail is also planning the \u201cSunshine Corridor,\u201d a new route to connect to Orlando International Airport, International Drive, and Disney Springs. Several municipalities and Universal Studios have approved funding for a study on this project. <\/p>\n Harris tells News 6 he would like to see this come to fruition as soon as possible.<\/p>\n \u201cSo, I think they need more routes to be more consistent through the day. I think it would increase ridership, but I also think that they maybe get the thing finished to the airport.
