{"id":66782,"date":"2025-12-01T18:18:08","date_gmt":"2025-12-01T18:18:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/66782\/"},"modified":"2025-12-01T18:18:08","modified_gmt":"2025-12-01T18:18:08","slug":"man-accused-of-sexually-assaulting-teen-with-disability-in-fort-lauderdale-nbc-6-south-florida-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/66782\/","title":{"rendered":"Man accused of sexually assaulting teen with disability in Fort Lauderdale \u2013 NBC 6 South Florida"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man accused of sexually assaulting a teen with mental disabilities in Fort Lauderdale is facing charges nearly a year the alleged crime.<\/p>\n<p>Paul John, 59, was arrested on Nov. 27 on a sexual battery charge, Broward jail records showed.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/120125-Paul-John.png\" loading=\"lazy\"   alt=\"Paul John\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\tBroward Sheriff&#8217;s Office<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\tBroward Sheriff&#8217;s Office<\/p>\n<p>Paul John<\/p>\n<p>According to an arrest report, the incident happened back on Dec. 6 of 2024.<\/p>\n<p>John was driving his Chevrolet Camaro when he approached the teen as he was walking along Northeast 15th Street and East Sunrise Boulevard, the report said.<\/p>\n<p>Detectives said John offered the teen a job to work on his boat and even spoke with the teen&#8217;s mom, who told him that her son had a disability so he would need to be patient if he hired him.<\/p>\n<p>John is then accused of taking advantage of that trust, taking the teen back to his home to clean a boat before taking him to a gay strip club and to play pool, police said.<\/p>\n<p>When they returned to John&#8217;s house, the teen told detectives that he raped him, the report said.<\/p>\n<p>The teen&#8217;s mother said she realized something wasn&#8217;t right when her son&#8217;s demeanor drastically changed.
