Univ. of Florida AD Scott Stricklin \u201cmet with a handful of influential boosters\u201d Tuesday and was told that \u201ccontinuing financial support depends on new direction within the football program,\u201d according to Matt Hayes of USA TODAY. Sources said that Florida coach Billy Napier will not \u201csurvive another loss\u201d and \u201ccould be fired as soon as this weekend.\u201d Hayes wrote this is an \u201cimportant and direct connection to last year\u2019s near firing\u201d of Napier. It was then that the same UF boosters were \u201cready to pay Napier\u2019s large buyout,\u201d but were \u201cheld off by Stricklin and convinced to use that money in NIL space to help Napier\u2019s buildout,\u201d in turn creating a \u201csignificantly upgraded and talented team.\u201d That money also was used to \u201ckeep numerous impact players already on the roster from leaving for other schools.\u201d However, the results on the field \u201chave been the same.\u201d Napier\u2019s buyout is approximately $21M (USA TODAY, 10\/15<\/a>). <\/p>\n
