LUCIE, Fla. &#8211; A Port St. Lucie police officer who was shot while responding to a call Monday night is in critical condition, the police department reported Tuesday morning.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>   <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/sergeant-erik-levasseurs-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-v-0dea8073=\"\"\/> <\/p>\n<p data-v-0dea8073=\"\">Sergeant Erik LeVasseur of the Port St. Lucie Police Department was shot in an incident involving a suspect with a rifle-style weapon. <\/p>\n<p original-article-post=\"\" origination_station=\"WOFL\" data-v-ec26887a=\"\" data-v-3646484b=\"\">What we know:<\/p>\n<p data-v-3646484b=\"\">Sergeant Erik LeVasseur \u2013 who&#8217;s been with the Port St. Lucie Police Department for 25 years \u2013 was shot on Dec. 1 when he responded to a disturbance call in the area of Tradition Parkway and Gatlin Boulevard.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-3646484b=\"\">Sgt. LeVasseur was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox35orlando.com\/news\/police-port-st-lucie-officer-shot-disturbance-call\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">responding to a disturbance call when he was shot<\/a>, the department said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-3646484b=\"\"><a class=\"x_OWAAutoLink x_elementToProof\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fox35orlando.com\/fox-local\" target=\"_blank\" id=\"OWAa3b8e167-8ef5-76fb-3456-62c2a4f3e41c\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">CLICK TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX LOCAL APP<\/a><\/p>\n<p data-v-3646484b=\"\">Of the six officers who responded to the scene, LeVasseur was the only officer injured, the department said in a press conference. Erik LeVasseur, who was seriously injured during an incident last night. The City is committed to doing everything possible to support Sgt.
