FORT PIERCE \u2014 The Winn-Dixie grocery store at 4870 N. Kings Highway in the Indiro Crossing shopping center will permanently close in late February to be converted into an ALDI, parent company Southeastern Grocers confirmed Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The adjacent Winn-Dixie Beer, Wine & Spirits store will remain open and is not affected by the conversion.<\/p>\n
In a statement attributed to Senior Director of Communications and Community Meredith Hurley, Southeastern Grocers said all associates at the North Kings Highway location have received advance notice and will have the first opportunity to apply for positions at the future ALDI or transfer to another Winn-Dixie store.<\/p>\n
\u201cSoutheastern Grocers is working closely with ALDI to ensure a smooth transition,\u201d the statement read. \u201cWe appreciate the support and understanding of our valued associates, customers and communities throughout this process.\u201d<\/p>\n
The closure is part of a broader wave of Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket conversions to the ALDI format following ALDI\u2019s 2023 acquisition of the Southeastern Grocers chains. Several Treasure Coast locations have already made or are scheduled for similar transitions.<\/p>\n
The new ALDI is expected to open several weeks after the Winn-Dixie closes for remodeling.
