CLEARWATER \u2014 A driver faces charges after crashing through a concrete barrier on U.S. 19 in Clearwater, then running from the scene, police said.<\/p>\n
Jon A. Wilson, 26, drove through a stop sign at Nursery Road shortly before 1 a.m., Nov. 25, crossed the southbound access road and slammed into the concrete dividing wall separating the highway’s main lanes from the access road, according to Clearwater police.<\/p>\n
The impact sent concrete debris across the southbound lanes, forcing their closure for about four hours, police said.<\/p>\n
Wilson ran from the crash site but officers caught him a short time later when he tried to return home, police said. He was treated at Mease Countryside Hospital before being taken to the Pinellas County Jail.<\/p>\n
