Outstanding leaders in marine science education and environmental stewardship to be honored<\/p>\n

The Guy Harvey Foundation<\/a> (GHF) will host its 17th annual \u201cLove the Blue\u201d gala, presented by Norwegian Cruise Line, beginning at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29 at the Lauderdale Yacht Club, 1725 SE 12th Street in Fort Lauderdale. Proceeds from Love the Blue benefit the Foundation\u2019s ocean research and education initiatives.<\/p>\n

Guests will enjoy a cocktail reception, dinner, and silent and live auctions featuring original Guy Harvey artwork, exclusive trips and unique gift items. In addition, the Foundation will pay homage to the 50th anniversary of the blockbuster film, Jaws, which was adapted from author Peter Benchley\u2019s novel of the same name, and to this day still sparks global awareness of the ocean\u2019s top predator. Benchley\u2019s wife, renowned marine and environmental conservation advocate Wendy Benchley<\/a>, will be the keynote speaker, sharing her insights and experiences in continuing her late husband\u2019s legacy of ocean stewardship.\u00a0<\/p>\n

World-renowned artist, scientist, conservationist and GHF Founder and Chair Emeritus, Dr. Guy Harvey, will join his daughter, Foundation CEO Jessica Harvey, in sharing captivating stories of their recent ocean explorations and highlighting a year that was marked by groundbreaking research and transformative education initiatives.\u00a0<\/p>\n

During the evening, the Foundation will also recognize Emmy Award winning videographer Frazier Nivens and Wards Creek Elementary School teacher Ximena Vergara for their significant contributions to advance ocean conservation and marine science education, respectively.<\/p>\n

Each year, the Foundation builds on Dr. Harvey\u2019s decades of scientific expertise to enhance its marine science curriculum for elementary, middle and high school students. By providing field trip grants to go out in nature, the Foundation helps educators bring marine and environmental science to life for their students as they explore nature together and students have the chance to actively engage with real-world case studies of environmental challenges and conservation successes from around the globe.\u00a0<\/p>\n
