The\u00a0Matlacha Hookers would like to thank Jug Creek Marina for partnering with us to put on the Pine Island Elementary Fishing Derby on Nov. 2, 2025.This community event brought out 76 future anglers who enjoyed great weather, good food and plenty of fun.\u00a0Of course, Uno showed up to show off for the kids.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Matlacha Hookers would also like to thank the numerous \u201cHometown Heroes\u201d for donating money so kids could fish. A special thank you goes out to the following businesses that supported our community and our kids by donating either time, effort, or financial support in some manner and keeping our cost low:\u00a0 The Salty Angel, Pine Island Pools LLC, Publix at Calusa Cay, West Solutions, Quality Bait, BassPro, Gathering Grove, Greater Pine Island Alliance, Greater Pine Island Elks, Matlacha\/Pine Island Fire Control District and Pine Island Gentlemen\u2019s Society.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
We also want to thank Jeff Sterner and the various businesses that contributed to and made the live auction successful.\u00a0To the parents, teachers and all the volunteers who showed up to support our local kids.\u00a0It made a difference for kids to fish and enjoy the beauty of our island.<\/p>\n
