DORAL, Fla. \u2014 As U.S.-Venezuela tensions increased, Venezuelans visiting El Arepazo on Thursday in Doral said they had hope that President Donald Trump was going to bring down Nicol\u00e1s Maduro. <\/p>\n

On Wednesday, at the White House, Trump said he had authorized the Central Intelligence Agency\u2019s action in Venezuela because the Maduro regime had \u201cemptied their prisons\u201d into the U.S. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a lot of drugs coming in from Venezuela, and a lot of the Venezuelan drugs come in through the sea,\u201d Trump said at the Oval Office. <\/p>\n

As the U.S. military has been conducting fatal strikes to stop drug smugglers in the Caribbean, Trump confirmed The New York Times\u2019s report that his administration had authorized \u201ccovert C.I.A. action\u201d in Venezuelan territory.<\/p>\n

Trump designated transnational gangs and drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations in February. <\/p>\n

The State Department offered $50 million<\/a> for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Maduro for drug trafficking. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe are looking at land now, because we\u2019ve got the sea very well under control,\u201d Trump said about U.S. operations in the southern Caribbean. <\/p>\n

U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced there was an armed conflict against narcoterrorists. Trump said the U.S. naval operations in the southern Caribbean were effective. <\/p>\n

\u201cThey have faster boats. They are world-class speedboats, but they are not faster than missiles,\u201d Trump said. <\/p>\n

Venezuelans in Doral hope Trump will bring down Maduro <\/p>\n

In a televised speech on Wednesday, Maduro criticized the U.S. for failed regime changes that have turned into \u201ceternal wars\u201d in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo to the coups carried out by the CIA,\u201d Maduro said while referring to political violence in the 1970s and 80s in Argentina and Chile. <\/p>\n

Maduro said Latin America \u201crepudiates\u201d CIA coups and added that he rejects \u201cwar in the Caribbean\u201d and in South America and \u201cyes to peace.\u201d<\/p>\n

Yv\u00e1n Gil, Venezuela\u2019s foreign minister, released a statement on Telegram, accusing that an intervention would be \u201ca very serious violation of international law and the United Nations\u2019 Charter.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, Jorge Rodr\u00edguez, the head of the National Assembly announced Maduro\u2019s administration had warned the Trump administration about a \u201cfalse-flag operation\u201d at the U.S. Embassy in Caracas by \u201cextrimists\u201d who oppose Maduro. <\/p>\n

The U.S. has also sanctioned El C\u00e1rtel de los Soles<\/a>, which officials have described as a narcotrafficking organization that involves the Venezuelan military and that continues to support the Maduro regime. The cartel, also described as a network of corruption, allegedly collaborates with leftist guerrillas that are also involved in narcotrafficking in Colombia. <\/p>\n
