State data shows that 1 in 5 Floridians have unclaimed funds. The program invites residents to search for those assets on its website. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fltreasurehunt.gov\/ControlServlet?ActionForm=GotoNewPublicSearch\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Those claims<\/a> can be filed for individual persons or for a business that might have wayward assets.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cFrom forgotten bank accounts and insurance payments to utility deposits and stock dividends, we\u2019re working every day to reunite hardworking taxpayers, families, and small businesses with the money they have earned,\u201d Ingoglia said in a news release this week. \u201cIn the month of September alone, our dedicated unclaimed property team returned a record $58 million back to the pockets of Floridians.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The state makes it fairly easy to find unclaimed assets, especially for individuals. The CFO\u2019s website database simply asks for your first and last name, along with the city of the person seeking the property claims. A simple online click initiates the search.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hklaw.com\/en\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-653648\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Influence_FGAT_Banner_728x90.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"728\" height=\"90\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For businesses, the search only requests the name of the business and city where it operates.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Unclaimed assets can include dormant bank accounts, insurance proceeds, uncashed checks, deposits, credit balances and content in abandoned safe deposit boxes at financial institutions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Those assets are usually resting in holdings at businesses or government entities for a limited time of about five years.
