GULFPORT \u2014 A man has been arrested in a hit-and-run crash that critically injured two people riding an electric scooter in Gulfport last week, sheriff’s officials said.<\/p>\n
Eugenijus Sviderskas, 77, admitted to driving his van and hearing a loud thud but did not stop, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.<\/p>\n
Michael Lynch, 61, and Kristen Lynch, 42, were riding an electric scooter east on Gulfport Boulevard in the curb lane around 7:20 p.m. Nov. 28 when they were struck from behind near Luana Lane South, according to investigators. The vehicle kept going.<\/p>\n
Witnesses called 911 to report two people lying in the road. Both were taken to a hospital in critical condition.<\/p>\n
Investigators identified the vehicle as a red 1997 Ford Econoline van registered to Sviderskas, of 5820 25th Ave. S. in Gulfport, sheriff’s officials said.<\/p>\n
As of Nov. 30, Kristen Lynch was in stable condition and Michael Lynch was critical but stable, according to the Sheriff’s Office.<\/p>\n
