Don\u2019t let anyone tell you Miami isn\u2019t in the South. We love the outdoors, football, animals, and revving loud cars in public spaces. Yes, you read that right.<\/p>\n

As Brickell residents are learning, revving loud engines isn\u2019t reserved for small-town country boys with lifted trucks. According to a popular Reddit post, residents of the glamorous Brickell neighborhood have become fed up with all the rev-ups.<\/p>\n

It seems that dealing with intentionally loud vehicles is nearly ubiquitous to the American experience, but so is the hypothesized origin of the behavior: men with small you-know-whats.<\/p>\n

The original poster linked to a petition<\/a> they hope will help stop the noise pollution. The petition has garnered nearly 2,000 signatures in just one week.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are experiencing constant noise from excessively loud vehicles, explosive popping and backfire sounds, illegal street racing, and reckless driving at all hours,\u201d the petition reads. \u201cThese disruptions happen during the day and also very late at night. Many residents report being woken up repeatedly between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. Others hear the noise all day while trying to work or rest.\u201d<\/p>\n

Decade-long residents say this is a new problem that is only getting worse. The petition requests increased police enforcement in the area, the installation of noise-monitoring technology, and a clear public action plan.<\/p>\n

Redditors didn\u2019t take long to tear into these ostentatious motorists, who are often seen driving pimped-out muscle cars, luxury and exotic vehicles, ATVs, and motorcycles through Brickell\u2019s busy streets.<\/p>\n

\u201cSuper obnoxious people who just drive around making fart sounds. Your car sounds broken, not cool,\u201d one commenter wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s super annoying,\u201d wrote one commenter (whose use of super<\/a> confirms their South Florida roots). \u201cI\u2019m 28 not 68, and I\u2019m annoyed. Let me eat in peace while I get hit with a 70 percent service charge.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know if it\u2019s just me being older (37) but I think modifications that lead to louder cars should be banned. It\u2019s so fucking annoying,\u201d wrote another.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am filled with an urge to slash some fucking tires every time I hear that shit,\u201d another wrote.<\/p>\n

And the problem isn\u2019t exclusive to Brickell, with some commenters sharing similar annoyances from across South Florida.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need this in Fort Lauderdale, too!\u201d one commenter wrote. \u201cThese idiots do it all night. What\u2019s funny is \u2026 they\u2019re always alone. Like what a pathetic existence to just make noise and have only yourself to keep you company.
