He was out fishing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She added she and the family \u201cdon\u2019t want to speculate\u201d on what exactly caused the issue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t know what happened,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>According to the family, Campbell\u2019s death came as a shock: \u201cHe wasn\u2019t sick. He was out fishing.\u201d YouTube\/The Clemson Insider<\/p>\n<p>Sandra said Elden\u2019s body is currently with the medical examiner, and they hope to have more details surrounding his passing in the next few days.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was such a big pillar and a staple to our family,\u201d she said. \u201cHe\u2019s going to be terribly missed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Campbell starred at Clemson University before he was picked by the Lakers in the first round of the 1990 NBA Draft. He went on to play eight-and-a-half seasons for Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p>Elden Campbell was picked by the Lakers in the 1990 NBA Draft. AP<\/p>\n<p>He finished his 15-year NBA career averaging 10.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.<\/p>\n<p>Campbell \u2014 nicknamed \u201cEasy E\u201d for his effortless style of play \u2014 won one NBA championship in 2004 as a member of the Detroit Pistons.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI loved throwing lobs to Elden because he could jump out the gym and had so much talent!\u201d Campbell\u2019s former teammate, Magic Johnson, wrote on X on Wednesday. \u201cCookie and I are praying for his family and Lakers Nation as they mourn during this difficult time.
