Kevin Cabrera and Dan Newlin backed bombing drug boats from Venezuela, imposing global tariffs.<\/p>\n

Florida leaders tapped by President Donald Trump to lead U.S. diplomacy are championing the President decision to take a strong stance with Venezuela.<\/p>\n

Both Ambassador to Panama Kevin Cabrera<\/a> and Ambassador to Colombia\u00a0Dan Newlin<\/a> support the attacks of Venezuelan boats allegedly trafficking drugs to North America.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow many boats would have made it to the United States of America, transported that cocaine, possibly laced with fentanyl and other drugs?\u201d Newlin said. \u201cThey\u2019re killing our Americans. Over 200,000 Americans a year die just from fentanyl overdoses. How much of those drugs on those boats would have been already filtered through into our country? All of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cabrera said Trump was leading through strength, and the entire Western Hemisphere will benefit from it.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know that we\u2019re going to do our very best to help rise that up,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The diplomats spoke on a foreign policy panel at the Rescuing the American Dream summit on a panel moderated by U.S. Sen.\u00a0Rick Scott.<\/p>\n

Cabrera listed \u201cLiberation Day\u201d \u2014 when Trump announced tariffs on imports from nations around the globe \u2014 as a top achievement of the administration as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe started to gain American respect again on the global stage,\u201d Cabrera said. \u201cAt the end of the day, a lot of these countries were ripping us off for years. You look at the trade barriers that they had for us, but we had none for them. He\u2019s balancing the scales. He\u2019s making sure that Americans and American businesses are treated fairly, and that we\u2019re bringing back jobs for our country.\u201d<\/p>\n

Carlos Trujillo, a former Ambassador to the Organization of the American States, also noted Trump\u2019s willingness to engage in international politics.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019ve been very few Presidents and senators who have sort of stuck their neck out into other elections and to what\u2019s going on and in the Western Hemisphere, and really put their voice out about who they thought should be running the countries,\u201d Trujillo said. \u201cPresident Trump is not shy.\u201d<\/p>\n
