STUART \u2014 A Virginia man was arrested Nov. 29 on various charges after fleeing a traffic stop in Stuart.<\/p>\n
According to SPD, the department\u2019s traffic enforcement unit attempted a traffic stop on 34-year-old Craig Willingham Jr. of Manassas, Virginia after he failed to stop before entering northwest Federal Highway from the North Shore Plaza area.<\/p>\n
According to SPD, Willingham initiated a pursuit after fleeing the traffic stop by making a U-turn and allegedly speeding northbound with his headlights off.<\/p>\n
He lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a telephone and then fled on foot, according to SPD.<\/p>\n
SPD and Martin County Sheriff\u2019s Office deputies assisted with their aviation unit and located Willingham at a nearby apartment complex.<\/p>\n
He was taken into custody and police found drugs in his vehicle.<\/p>\n
He was charged with:<\/p>\n
-Fleeing and eluding<\/p>\n
-Resisting arrest without violence<\/p>\n
-Driving while license suspended with knowledge<\/p>\n
-Leaving the scene of a crash<\/p>\n
-Possession of Cannabis under 20 grams<\/p>\n
-Possession of drug paraphernalia<\/p>\n
