JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2013 An 18-year-old who was killed in a double shooting<\/a> while trying to break up a fight at his job will be laid to rest this weekend.<\/p>\n

A candlelight vigil will be held Friday night to honor Matthew Jackson, who was shot almost two weeks ago at a Burger King on the Westside after he intervened when one of his co-workers and another man were fighting.<\/p>\n

His co-worker was also shot but survived. <\/p>\n

Jackson\u2019s viewing will also be held Friday night.<\/p>\n

Since Jackson was killed, family and friends have told News4JAX plenty of things about him.<\/p>\n

He loved to cook, and he also loved caring for and protecting people if he could. He was also a twin.<\/p>\n

Jackson was a senior at Riverside High School and was set to enlist in the Marines after graduating in the spring. <\/p>\n

When News4JAX spoke with his mother, Natasha, earlier this week, she said her son\u2019s love language was acts of service. <\/p>\n

\u201cA ball of light every time he walked into a room, he lit it up. He never met a stranger at all. He loved his family. He has siblings,\u201d Natasha Jackson said.<\/p>\n

Jackson was shot inside a Burger King on Blanding Boulevard on Nov. 22.<\/p>\n

According to the arrest report, 28-year-old Dawud Burritt fought with Ray Cummings<\/a>, a former friend and Burger King co-worker.<\/p>\n

JSO said Cummings and Burritt used to be friends but had a falling out. <\/p>\n

Police said Burritt shot and killed Jackson and also shot Cummings, who is recovering.<\/p>\n

Burritt was arrested the next morning and faces second-degree murder charges.<\/p>\n

According to JSO\u2019s database, 11 teenagers have been murdered in Jacksonville so far this year. Five of them were 18-year-olds \u2014 including Jackson.<\/p>\n

Friday\u2019s candelight vigil and viewing will start a 5 p.m. at Funerals by T.S. Warden Funeral Home on North Main Street.<\/p>\n

The vigil is going to be outside while his visitation\/viewing will be inside from 5 to 7 p.m.<\/p>\n

His mother said the services are open to the public. <\/p>\n

Jackson\u2019s funeral is Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.<\/p>\n
