TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Leon County author Shonda Knight is releasing a second book focused on showing young boys that they can be whatever they want to be.<\/p>\n
Knight\u2019s first book, My Omnilocks: Hair with Endless Looks, launched last year, and encourages young girls to love their hair. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe need something for our boys,\u201d Knight said. \u201cThis is what God put in my spirit.\u201d <\/p>\n
My Omnilife: I Can Be Anything has a space for kids to slot their own photo in so they can see themselves in many different career paths.<\/p>\n
On Saturday, Knight will be hosting an event and giving away books and drawstring backpacks to elementary-age children while supplies last.<\/p>\n
The book\u2019s illustrator, Adam Gipson, will also be at the event. <\/p>\n
There will also be live music, speakers from the Florida Civil Rights Museum, the Omega Lamplighters, and Brownsville Preparatory Institute. The event will also feature free food.<\/p>\n
The book launch and giveaway is Saturday, Dec. 6 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fairview Middle School.<\/p>\n
