JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2013 Good morning, Jacksonville! If you walked outside early today, you definitely noticed that thick fog. It\u2019s sticking around through 9 a.m., so low beam headlights are a smart idea if you\u2019re heading out early.<\/p>\n
Right now, temperatures are in the mid-50s, and it feels a lot like Christmas. I know some of you are loving the colder air while others are wishing for a quick return to warmth, but these chilly starts are expected to hang around. Today\u2019s high should hit 66 degrees, with clouds holding steady most of the day and lows tonight expected to dip down to 44 degrees.<\/p>\n
Drought lingers despite recent rain<\/p>\n
We saw some rain yesterday and overnight, and even caught a quick shower around Orange Park early this morning. Even with those showers, it hasn\u2019t budged our drought much.<\/p>\n
November didn\u2019t bring any recordable rain for Jacksonville, which is almost unheard of. That\u2019s why you\u2019ll still see the region lighting up on the drought monitor. As we look ahead, there\u2019s no significant rain expected for the next six out of seven days, so those dry conditions are likely to continue.<\/p>\n
Holiday plans and outdoor activities<\/p>\n
If you\u2019re planning holiday fun or heading out for events, you\u2019re in luck \u2014 the forecast looks pretty dry. Some performances, like the Pine Forest Dance Ensemble, got rained out this weekend, but things are expected to shape up with a much sunnier stretch for next weekend.<\/p>\n
I got a chance to check out \u201cDeck the Chairs\u201d and a fun, Grinch-themed spot at Grey Distillery. Even with the chilly air, it\u2019s a fantastic time to get out and enjoy festive displays. If you\u2019ve been holding off on yard work, keep in mind there isn\u2019t much rain coming this week, so break out the garden hose if your plants need water.<\/p>\n
