A 6-year-old girl died after she was involved in a go-kart accident at\u00a0Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park in Port St. Lucie, Fla., on Saturday, Dec. 6, Port St. Lucie Police Department said in a news release.\n<\/p>\n
Authorities responded to a call at Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park just before 9 p.m. local time, with reports that a child was injured in\u00a0a go-kart accident.<\/p>\n
First responders reported to the scene, and the girl was airlifted to a hospital in Fort Pierce.\n<\/p>\n
The child, whose identity has not been revealed, succumbed to her injuries on Sunday, Dec. 7, police said.\n<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are heartbroken by the tragic incident that occurred at the Port St. Lucie, Florida, park over the weekend. Our deepest sympathies go out to the child\u2019s family and loved ones,” an Urban Air spokesperson said in a statement on Monday, Dec. 8, according to\u00a0WPBF<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n The representative said the company’s “policies, procedures and equipment are designed to keep children and families safe,” adding that the “well-being of the children and families we serve is always our top priority.”\n<\/p>\n “Our team responded immediately, and emergency personnel arrived onsite. We are working with state and local authorities as their investigation moves forward,” the statement continued. “Out of respect for the family, the park is closed while we focus on supporting the investigation and keeping everyone affected by this terrible tragedy in our thoughts.\u201d\n<\/p>\n An investigation into the incident is ongoing, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has also been notified, the Port St. Lucie Police Department said.\n<\/p>\n
