{"id":77050,"date":"2025-12-09T15:06:09","date_gmt":"2025-12-09T15:06:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/77050\/"},"modified":"2025-12-09T15:06:09","modified_gmt":"2025-12-09T15:06:09","slug":"florida-set-to-carry-out-record-18th-death-row-execution-of-the-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/77050\/","title":{"rendered":"Florida set to carry out record 18th death row execution of the year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A man convicted of stabbing a woman to death during a home invasion robbery is set to be executed at Florida State Prison Tuesday night.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">58-year-old Mark Allen Geralds was convicted of first-degree murder in Bay County in 1990.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">It would be a record 18th death sentence carried out in Florida this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Death penalty opponents said they are alarmed at the current pace of executions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Another execution is scheduled for next Thursday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">There are currently 253 people on death row in Florida.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wftv.com\/mobile-apps\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Click here;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Click here<\/a> to download our free news, weather and smart TV apps.
