Despite five formal proposals, the city of Fort Pierce announced this week that none of the bids met the qualifications to move forward. <\/p>\n<p>Fort Pierce turns down all bids for beloved Little Jim property<\/p>\n<p>Among the rejected proposals were submissions from:<\/p>\n<p>Salty 3 Baitshack, the current operators of Little JimLuigi and Drita Lucaj, restaurant owners from MichiganBottoms Up Beverage of Florida, based in Fort PierceJetset Events LLC, with a location in Fort PierceHZIP LLC, located in Dania Beach<\/p>\n<p>While Salty 3 Baitshack declined to comment on their proposal\u2019s rejection, the Lucajs voiced their frustration with the city\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFeeling quite disappointed, angry,\u201d said Luigi and Drita Lucaj. \u201cWe followed their recommendations very thoroughly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The couple believes their proposal received the highest score of the five and now plans to file a formal protest.<\/p>\n<p>They say their plans for the site were clear.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKeeping that charm, keeping the look and the vision that the city wanted, but updating it, bringing some things more current,\u201d they added.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wptv.com\/news\/region-st-lucie-county\/fort-pierce\/biggest-fear-why-this-fort-pierce-historic-restaurant-fears-being-shut-down\" class=\"ListItem \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"ListItem-category\">Fort Pierce<\/p>\n<p>    Does Little Jim Bait &amp; Tackle have a future in Fort Pierce? <\/p>\n<p><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The building that Little Jim Bait &amp; Tackle operates out of is 80 years old, with U.S. naval history dating back to World War II. The rustic bait shop and bar remains a favorite among residents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFeels like the Florida that a lot of us remember from many years ago,\u201d said one visitor. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a classic place in Fort Pierce,\u201d added another. \u201cIt would be a shame to see any other place come here that is not Little Jim\u2019s.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a statement to WPTV, the city said, \u201cThis outcome underscores the city\u2019s commitment to maintaining a fair and transparent procurement process.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>City officials have not yet provided further clarification on which specific criteria was not met in the proposals.
