The Florida inmate who infamously got pregnant <\/a>while incarcerated in a Miami jail was found guilty of murdering the father of her older two children.<\/p>\n

Daisy Link remained emotionless as a jury took less than two hours to convict her of second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of Pedro Jimenez outside her Homestead home in June 2022, according to Local10<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Link and Jimenez had been together for nine years and shared two kids at the time of his death.<\/p>\n

The 30-year-old mother made global headlines when she revealed she was pregnant while awaiting her murder trial to begin at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in December 2023.<\/p>\n

Link claimed she used the semen from fellow inmate, Joan DePaz, having obtained it in a glove passed through a vent.<\/p>\n

She says she never met DePaz, who was also facing a murder charge and but was housed on a floor above Link. The two only talked through the ventilation system.<\/p>\n

The birth of Link\u2019s youngest child, who is in the care of relatives, was never brought up during the murder trial, the outlet reported.<\/p>\n

Jimenez died after he was shot in the leg and left to bleed out as Link was seen on a security camera walking away, mocking that she struck a \u201cmajor artery,\u201d according to footage obtained by the outlet.<\/p>\n

Link testified that the shot was meant only to be a warning to scare Jimenez away.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s the father of my kids,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s not like I didn\u2019t love him, I did.\u201d<\/p>\n

Prosecutor Alex Bergida called the relationship between Link and Jimenez \u201ctoxic\u201d with domestic violence coming from both parties.<\/p>\n

Link\u2019s defense team argued Jimenez abused the mother of his children and attacked her days before his death in a drunken rage, painting him as a drug addict.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe wasn\u2019t a good guy. He was a coke head, wife-beating lunatic,\u201d defense attorney Ayuban Thomas told the court.<\/p>\n

Thomas\u2019 defense was built around Link\u2019s right to self-defense against Jimenez, who allegedly threatened to break into her home and take their kids. <\/p>\n

Link\u2019s 11-year-old son testified virtually, claiming he saw his father attacking Link and even pistol-whipping her.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe (Jimenez) pointed the gun at my mom and he fired a shot but he missed,\u201d the boy told the court, according to CBS News Miami.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cHe was hitting her with the bottom of the gun,\u201d Link\u2019s son said.<\/p>\n

One juror revealed his reasoning for returning the guilty verdict after the trial.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf he\u2019s running away and she shot him in the back, doesn\u2019t seem much like self-defense if he\u2019s running away,\u201d Kenan Bowie told reporters outside the courtroom.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was a lot that she lied about, a lot from the second she called 911,\u201d Bowie said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just really looked at the facts of what happened that day. And I mean the only thing you could come up with was guilty in our situation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle applauded prosecutors after Link was found guilty.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday, Daisy Link has been found guilty of the 2nd Degree Murder of her boyfriend, Pedro Jimenez. We thank the jury for their careful examination of all the facts and evidence presented by prosecutors during the trial. I applaud the talented prosecutorial team for effectively bringing forth all the essential case elements that led to this verdict,\u201d Fernandez Rundle said.<\/a><\/p>\n
