{"id":78250,"date":"2025-12-10T11:06:07","date_gmt":"2025-12-10T11:06:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/78250\/"},"modified":"2025-12-10T11:06:07","modified_gmt":"2025-12-10T11:06:07","slug":"city-council-approves-15m-for-unf-stadium-improvements-workplace-development-and-other-projects","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/78250\/","title":{"rendered":"City council approves $15M for UNF stadium improvements, workplace development and other projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2013 The Jacksonville City Council approved on Tuesday an appropriations bill to provide $15 million to fund renovations to Hodges Stadium at the University of North Florida, projects at other area universities and three workforce development programs, according to News4JAX news partners at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jaxdailyrecord.com\/news\/2025\/dec\/09\/council-approves-15-million-for-unf-stadium-improvements-workforce-development-and-more\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.jaxdailyrecord.com\/news\/2025\/dec\/09\/council-approves-15-million-for-unf-stadium-improvements-workforce-development-and-more\/\">Jacksonville Daily Record.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Ordinance 2025-0718, proposed by Council member Raul Arias, passed with an 18-0 vote on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The ordinance grants funding to three Jacksonville universities and three workforce development programs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The ordinance provides:<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u2022 $6 million in renovations to Hodges Stadium at UNF<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u2022 $5 million for development of trade career programs at Florida State College at Jacksonville<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u2022 $2 million toward construction at an<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u2022 $1 million for a workforce development center for the Northeast Florida Builders Association<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u2022 $675,000 for the Jacksonville General Apprenticeship Association<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u2022 $325,000 for a Workforce Industrial Training LLC program<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">City council also voted to fund $3 million of the $6 million appropriated for Hodges Stadium using funds from the city\u2019s Tourist Development Council funds.
