TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Construction is well underway for a 158-unit affordable housing complex in Tallahassee. <\/p>\n
The new complex sits at the corner of Lake Bradford Road and Kissimmee Street. The apartments are intended for people whose income is at or below 80% of the average median income, according to Tallahassee Commissioner Curtis Richardson. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe have to make sure housing is affordable for individuals and families at various income levels,\u201d Richardson said. <\/p>\n

Of the 158 units, Richardson said 39 will be designated for people who are transitioning out of homelessness and for people who are at risk of becoming homeless. <\/p>\n
City officials reported investing just more than $1,000,000 into the development of this project. <\/p>\n
Having a place to call home can also have lasting impacts on children, Richardson said. <\/p>\n
\u201cThem learning and having a stable home to come home to every day after school is extremely important, and does a lot to encourage proper development among those young people,\u201d the commissioner said. <\/p>\n
The complex is expected to be finished by the summer of 2026.<\/p>\n
