JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2013 I have to say, this is the kind of fall weather I absolutely love. We\u2019re in a dry streak here in Jacksonville that\u2019s got everyone talking\u2014clear skies, warm sunshine, and not a drop of rain on the Exact Track 4D radar right now.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s a direct result of the high pressure camped over our region. It\u2019s keeping us dry through the end of the week and into the weekend, which means you can get outside and soak it all up!<\/p>\n
Mild start, warm afternoons ahead<\/p>\n
Mornings are starting off on the cooler side, especially further inland. If you stepped out early in Macclenny or Waycross, you likely saw temperatures in the upper 50s. Here on the coast, we\u2019ve seen readings right around 67 degrees, and Jacksonville checked in at 60 degrees early this morning.<\/p>\n
Afternoons are shaping up beautifully. We\u2019re expected to stay at or just a bit below our average highs as we head toward the weekend, but by Sunday, things could warm up to the lower 80s\u2014maybe even a bit above what\u2019s typical for this time of year. Winds are calm overall, just light breezes with gusts topping out in the teens or low 20s later today. Much calmer than yesterday.<\/p>\n
By 1 p.m., you can expect temperatures to climb near 78 degrees, so keep the sunglasses handy if you\u2019re heading out for a walk or tee time.<\/p>\n
Slight rain chance late Sunday<\/p>\n
I know a few of you have reached out about when rain might return\u2014especially those waiting on a good soak for their gardens. There\u2019s a front expected to slide through late in the weekend, probably Sunday evening, and that could bring a small chance of rain.<\/p>\n
Right now, the forecast doesn\u2019t call for widespread or long-lasting showers. Any rain is expected to clear out quickly, giving us another round of sunshine for the start of next week. Just remember, our weather always ebbs and flows, so this stretch of dry weather won\u2019t last forever.<\/p>\n
Rip current risk high for beaches<\/p>\n
If you have plans at the beach, one thing to keep a very close eye on is the high risk of rip currents. The red flags are out along our local beaches, so be extra cautious if you or your family are heading into the water.<\/p>\n
