I’m still tracking below-average temperatures here in Jacksonville and, yes, we are still in a drought.

There’s no rain expected in the foreseeable future. We’re in a rain deficit, and while we’d love to catch up before the end of the year, it’s looking likely that we’ll finish out 2025 on the dry side.

Chilly starts, milder afternoons

Mornings are feeling frosty, especially up near the Georgia state line where temperatures dipped below freezing. Right here in Jacksonville, I saw temperatures as low as 44 degrees early this morning with freeze warnings in place for some areas, especially away from the coast.

Heading out the door? Bundle up—especially the kids before school and anyone out for a walk with the dog. Wind gusts have been breezy in some spots, reaching into the teens or even 20s, so those extra layers are really important.

As the day goes on, things warm up nicely. Expect highs in the upper 60s today and around 63 degrees tomorrow. It’s going to be mostly sunny and clear, and by the weekend, temperatures are forecast to climb right into the mid-70s. Enjoy the sun while it sticks around! After the weekend, those numbers will start to fall again as another system moves through, cooling us off into the 60s and bringing lows back into the 40s.

Enjoying local events? Bundle up

A lot of folks have reached out about heading to events at the beach, like “Deck the Chairs.” You can expect it to be chilly, but it’s still worth it if you dress warm! Whether you’re writing to News4JAX or chatting on social media, the big theme is that the fun doesn’t have to stop—just make sure you’re ready for those cold starts and breezy evenings.

For families, sending the kids to the bus stop in extra layers will make those mornings a lot more comfortable. Same goes for your furry friends: if you can, plan those walks a little later in the day once things have warmed up.

Out and about celebrating the season or attending outdoor happenings?
