ORLANDO, Fla. \u2013 A Tony Award-winning Broadway musical based on S.E. Hinton\u2019s 1967 book and the 1983 film adaptation is coming to Orlando.<\/p>\n

Set in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1967, \u201cThe Outsiders<\/a>\u201d follows 14-year-old Ponyboy Curtis, his best friend, Johnny Cade, and their Greaser family of \u2018outsiders.\u2019 They are a working-class gang pitted against their upper-class rivals, the Socs.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Outsiders\u201d is a coming-of-age musical exploring the complexities of self-discovery as the Greasers dream about who they want to become in a world that may never accept them.<\/p>\n

The musical has themes of friendship, family, belonging, and the realization that there is still good in the world. <\/p>\n

The musical received 12 nominations at the 77th Tony Awards in 2024 and won four awards, including Best Musical. The musical\u2019s cast album was also nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album earlier this year.<\/p>\n

After making a stop in Orlando, the Broadway tour will head to Tampa\u2019s Straz Center Dec. 27-Jan. 4.<\/p>\n
