St. Petersburg Catholic dropped down to 4-3 on Tuesday, ending the team’s four-game streak of wins. They had to suffer through a 69-32 loss at the hands of the Clearwater Central Catholic Marauders. The game marked the Barons’ lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

As for Clearwater Central Catholic, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1. The final result isn’t all that surprising considering their considerable advantage in MaxPreps’ Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while St. Petersburg Catholic is ranked 392nd).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Clearwater Central Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brody Church, who almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine boards. Church is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he’s posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he’s played dating back to last season. Nels Angelillis was another key player, shooting 70% from the field on his way to 17 points and three steals.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. St. Petersburg Catholic will square off against Cristo Rey Tampa at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Clearwater Central Catholic, they will challenge Bishop McLaughlin Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Marauders will be up against the Hurricanes’ rather soft defense (which has allowed 54 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
