Inter Miami CF<\/a> have signed defender Ian Fray<\/a> to a new contract through the 2028-29 MLS season, the club announced Thursday.<\/p>\n Signed as a homegrown player in 2021, Fray battled through three ACL injuries before enjoying a breakout 2025 campaign.<\/p>\n The 23-year-old posted a career-high five goal contributions (1g\/4a) across 35 all-competition appearances last season, and was a starter in Miami’s 3-1 win<\/a> over Vancouver Whitecaps FC<\/a> that clinched the club’s first MLS Cup presented by Audi title<\/a>.<\/p>\n Fray was also a part of Inter Miami’s Leagues Cup<\/a> 2023 and Supporters’ Shield 2024-winning sides.<\/p>\n \u201cTo continue this journey here feels amazing. This club has put so much trust in me for the last five years I\u2019ve been here. Going through injuries, they kept their trust in me to sign a new contract and now we\u2019ve won the MLS Cup, so I\u2019m excited for next year,\u201d said Fray.<\/p>\n \u201cComing from the academy, it means a lot to me, just to give more kids from here hope that they can make it to the first team and make it through to the next level. So for me to sign another contract here, it’s exciting just to give more kids hope.\u201d<\/p>\n Fray has parlayed his club ascent into a rising international career with Jamaica, earning his first three senior caps during 2026 FIFA World Cup<\/a> qualifying. The Reggae Boyz will participate in March’s Intercontinental Playoffs for one of the remaining spots at next year’s tournament.<\/p>\n
