Open carry now legal in Florida: How Punta Gorda is responding<\/a><\/p>\nThe event, which is held at Mike Greenwell Regional Park, aims to provide education, access, and safety, particularly for first-time gun owners.<\/p>\n
“It’s really a one-stop shopping,” said Robert Geisler, General Manager of Florida Gun Shows.<\/p>\n
Geisler also emphasized the importance of their concealed weapons class.<\/p>\n
“Whether you’re going to open carry or conceal carry, I recommend everybody doing it. It’s a real and informational course done by the best instructors in the state,” said Geisler.<\/p>\n
The show comes at a crucial time following the passage of Florida\u2019s new open-carry law. Local business owners have noticed a shift in the gun market.<\/p>\n
“More people have been buying guns. More people been interested, but they were scared. They didn’t know the rules or the regulations,” said Richard Farah, owner of Farah Firearms. “Now everyone’s feeling, I think, more comfortable.”<\/p>\n
For the first time, firearms and ammunition are included in Florida\u2019s Second Amendment sales tax holiday, which continues through the end of the year.<\/p>\n
“It’s no secret that the gun business had a little bit of a lull summertime this year, and him doing that really helped spur on a lot of sales,” said Geisler.<\/p>\n
With more than 200 vendors, the event offers a wide array of options for attendees.<\/p>\n
“Here you can see everything in one spot in this industry. You can buy a gun, you can buy a knife, you can buy anything, and you can compare prices and shop prices and find really good deals,” said Gary Juidiciani, owner of MCK Products.<\/p>\n
