ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. \u2013 Universal has reached a resolution with the family of Kevin Rodriguez Zavala, who died in September after riding the Epic-Universe roller coaster Stardust Racers<\/a>, according to the family\u2019s legal team.<\/p>\n

A statement shared Saturday by Ben Crump Law<\/a> described \u201can amicable resolution\u201d in the matter, as well as that the terms of said resolution are confidential.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe family is grateful for the community\u2019s support and asks for privacy at this time,\u201d the statement reads, in part.<\/p>\n

The following statement, which was provided to News 6 by Universal, reads similarly:<\/p>\n

This matter has been amicably resolved. The family has asked for privacy at this time.<\/p>\n

Thirty-two-year-old Kevin Rodriguez Zavala died Sept. 17 after riding Stardust Racers, a 133-foot-tall roller coaster at Epic Universe<\/a>, Universal Orlando\u2019s newest theme park<\/a>. He was pronounced dead at a hospital after being found unresponsive in his restraint<\/a>. <\/p>\n

A medical examiner later determined Rodriguez Zavala suffered “multiple blunt impact injuries<\/a>\u201a” as well as that his death was an accident. Among the arguments of Rodriguez Zavala\u2019s legal team were claims of restraint malfunctions. Stardust Racers reopened with new safety guidelines<\/a> less than three weeks after Rodriguez Zavala\u2019s death, despite the family\u2019s pleas<\/a> to keep it closed.<\/p>\n
