The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required.<\/p>\n<p>BIG ARTS on Sanibel will celebrate the season with two more activities for the community.<\/p>\n<p>Part of its Holiday Magic programs for the month of December, BIG ARTS will host a Holiday Open House on Dec. 19 at 5 p.m., followed by a Holiday Family Film Night on Dec. 22 at 6:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese events have really become a tradition for us,\u201d Marketing Director Meghan Govoni said. \u201cThey\u2019re family friendly, they\u2019re fun and they\u2019re free. You can\u2019t beat that for the holidays.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE<\/p>\n<p>The Holiday Open House is free and open to the public; no ticket is required.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSanta Claus will be in the Christensen Performance Hall in his chair,\u201d she said. \u201cHe\u2019ll be available for kids to take photos with him, and he\u2019ll hand out candy canes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There will be holiday-themed art projects for youths.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe arts education activity table will have make-and-take clay and paper holiday ornaments,\u201d Arts Education Director Aimee Harrison said.<\/p>\n<p>Led by members of the BIG ARTS Community Chorus, attendees can take part in sing-a-longs of Christmas carols in the lobby throughout the evening.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey invite people to join in and sing along with them,\u201d Govoni said.<\/p>\n<p>ACT Catering and Boards will serve up light bites.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re going to do a big charcuterie spread, veggies and a couple little light bites,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd then we\u2019re adding in some kid-friendly things, like chicken nuggets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There will also be a cash bar.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe bartenders came up with some speciality cocktails and mocktails,\u201d Govoni said.<\/p>\n<p>The gift shop will be open for last-minute holiday shopping.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe gift shop is fully stocked with holiday gifts,\u201d she said, noting that the handcrafted treasures and unique keepsakes created by local artists will include ornaments, cards and more.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA few of the gift shop artists will be available to talk,\u201d Govoni added.<\/p>\n<p>An Artist Reception for the Sanibel-Captiva Art League\u2019s (SCAL) \u201cOde to Joy\u201d will take place at 5 p.m. in the Dunham Family Gallery. The SCAL brought together members of all affiliates of the Art Council of Southwest Florida to take part. It will feature a collection of fine art embracing various media, styles, colors, moods and techniques, inviting viewers to explore the beauty and spirit of joy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBIG ARTS is proud to host the 50th Annual Juried Art Council of Southwest Florida exhibit,\u201d Gallery Director Wilson McCray said.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Marti Koehler\u2019s \u201cJust Keep Swimming\u201d will be on display in the Mezzanine Gallery.<\/p>\n<p>Bank of the Islands is the presenting sponsor for the Holiday Open House.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re so happy to work with them and so grateful for their support,\u201d Govoni said.<\/p>\n<p>The community is invited to swing by.<\/p>\n<p>HOLIDAY FAMILY FILM NIGHT<\/p>\n<p>The Holiday Family Film Night is free, but tickets are required.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a great night out for all ages to continue the festivities of the holiday season,\u201d Executive Director Lee Ellen Harder said. \u201cEnjoy a holiday beverage and believe in the spirit of Christmas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The movie will be \u201cThe Polar Express,\u201d shown on the big screen in the Christensen Performance Hall.
