Florida State trustee and Weatherford Capital Founding Partner Drew Weatherford said with the rising costs for colleges due to NIL and revenue sharing, the \u201cknee jerk reaction is to cut sports,\u201d but schools \u201cactually should be adding sports.\u201d Weatherford, appearing on the Momentous Sports podcast prior to Friday\u2019s news that the Big 12 was discussing a private capital deal with RedBird Capital and Weatherford Capital<\/a>, spoke about his Add More Athletes initiative — which looks to boost participation in college sports by having schools \u201cactually profitably run club sports.\u201d Weatherford said there is a \u201cvery profitable way to add sports to every campus,\u201d as more athletes come to a school and \u201cthey all pay tuition.\u201d Weatherford: \u201cImagine each team on a campus actually having a non NCAA sanctioned team that\u2019s just like a club that is not as intense. They\u2019re not working 50 hour weeks, but maybe they\u2019re working 15 or 20 hour weeks.
