She said she believes the shooting was preventable and hopes his story serves as a warning to others. “I can guarantee you I know for a fact that my son was not a violent person,” said Tamika McKnight, Turner’s mom. Officers were called just before 3 a.m. to a car dealership after a report of a suspicious person. When they arrived, police said Turner was inside a vehicle and behaving suspiciously.St. Cloud police Chief Douglas Goerke said investigators are still determining whether the vehicle belonged to Turner, but noted similarities to a previous case in Orlando.\u201cWe are determining whether that was his vehicle or not,\u201d Goerke said. \u201cIt leads me to believe in his criminal history, he does have something very similar to this up in the Orlando area at a Porsche dealership, so it\u2019s very possible he was doing this also.\u201dPolice said when officers approached Turner, he ran, jumped a fence and hid in a nearby yard. Officers later found him concealed in shrubbery and gave commands for him to surrender.Instead, police say Turner pulled out a gun.Two officers fired their weapons, striking Turner.
