(WCTV) &#8211; Cases of whooping cough are at a 5-year high in Florida, with 1,079 confirmed cases so far in 2025, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flhealthcharts.gov\/ChartsReports\/rdPage.aspx?rdReport=FrequencyMerlin.Frequency&amp;FirstTime=True\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.flhealthcharts.gov\/ChartsReports\/rdPage.aspx?rdReport=FrequencyMerlin.Frequency&amp;FirstTime=True\">according to data from the Florida Health Charts<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The confirmed cases were within the period of January 1 to October 4 across all the counties in Florida. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | text-center article-text\">More news out of the Big Bend:<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">In 2020, the total number of confirmed cases was 162. In 2021, the number of confirmed cases went down to 25. In 2022, Florida\u2019s whooping cough confirmed cases went up to 26. The number then went up to 51 in 2023. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">In 2024, the number of confirmed whooping cough cases ballooned to 590.
