We must all attempt to join peaceful demonstrations this Saturday, Oct. 18, for No Kings Day.<\/a><\/p>\n

We need to show our solidarity against President Donald Trump and members of his administration as, each day, they continue to shred the U.S. Constitution.<\/p>\n

We can\u2019t hope that someone will ride in on a white horse to save our democracy.<\/p>\n

We, the people of our nation, must collectively ride in on that white horse and show our disdain for Trump\u2019s capers.<\/p>\n

Trump is not governing our country; he\u2019s ruling it. Only we have the power to stop Trump\u2019s march to authoritarianism.<\/p>\n

Outraged by ICE<\/p>\n

I watched a TV news clip with horror as an ICE officer pepper-sprayed into the air intake valve on a person wearing an inflatable frog costume in Portland, Oregon<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This action was dangerous and unnecessary<\/a>. I wanted the ICE officer to be arrested and charged with attempted murder or attempted grievous bodily harm to that frog costume wearing person.<\/p>\n

But ICE can do exactly what it wants \u2014 all under the pretense of keeping order.<\/p>\n

In 1946, Blacks were segregated, gays were in the closet, women didn\u2019t work outside the home and immigrants were parents or grandparents from war-torn Europe.<\/p>\n

In 1946, the only vaccine was for smallpox. Medicare did not exist. Doctors still made house calls.<\/p>\n

In 1946, coal was the main source of power. Air pollution was not considered a problem even though it was so bad that smoke from coal plants could block out the sun.<\/p>\n

In 1946, just about everyone smoked pack after pack of cigarettes, even though they caused lung cancer. Not until the \u201960s did scientists agree that smoking was very bad for your health.<\/p>\n

In 1946, seat belts were not mandatory, so let\u2019s Make America Great Again. Remove them!<\/p>\n

In 1946, a popular song was \u201cTo Each His Own\u201d<\/a> by Eddy Howard.<\/p>\n

Go figure.<\/p>\n

The wrong side of history<\/p>\n

I never thought I would say this, but I\u2019m starting to feel sorry for the Trump-hating letter writers and the Sun Sentinel Editorial Board. It\u2019s sad to see them having to go through all this because of their politics.<\/p>\n

They should know better. They tried it all before the election and nothing worked for them. After less than nine months, Trump and his administration have done more good trying to repair the U.S. and the rest of world than at any time in our history.<\/p>\n

Trump won. Find something true to complain about. You\u2019ve been on the wrong side of history for almost five years. Your silence under Biden-Harris brought us Trump.<\/p>\n

While I\u2019m very happy for that, please get hold of yourself and stop all of your nonsense of calling Trump a racist, bigot, fascist and Nazi.<\/p>\n

If, according to Broward Sheriff Gregory Tony, the killings in Tamarac were not a \u201csystemic\u201d\u00a0 failure<\/a>, after firing of six deputies and two supervisors and disciplinary action against 11 others, I\u2019m wondering, what would Tony call it?<\/p>\n

Business as usual? A job well done?<\/p>\n

The buck has to stop somewhere in the Broward Sheriff\u2019s Office, and rarely does it appear to be at Greg Tony\u2019s desk.<\/p>\n
