LCEC held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of its Sanibel Service Center on Nov. 3.<\/p>\n

It reported that the new facility represents an investment in LCEC infrastructure to better serve the islands\u2019 communities with enhanced reliability, storm resiliency and operational efficiency.<\/p>\n

LCEC leadership, community members and local officials, including LCEC Chief Executive Officer Denise Vidal, Sanibel Mayor Mike Miller and SanCap Chamber President and Chief Executive Officer John Lai, shared information about the importance of the project for the future of Sanibel and Captiva.<\/p>\n

It reported that the center will serve as a hub for daily operations and storm response, ensuring resources and personnel are positioned on island to enhance meeting member needs. Built with storm-hardened design, it will provide office space, equipment storage and staging areas for emergency restoration efforts.<\/p>\n

The facility is expected to be completed in December 2026.<\/p>\n
