Laura Loomer<\/a>, the far-right Florida conspiracy theorist and member of the Pentagon Press Corps<\/a>, has a new attorney for her pending $150 million defamation lawsuit against HBO and comedian Bill Maher.<\/p>\n

In a new federal court filing<\/a> in the Middle District of Florida, Fort Lauderdale-based attorney Frederick Sujat announced that he has joined Loomer\u2019s legal team following the suspension of attorney Larry Klayman<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u2018To clerk of courts and parties of all record: I am admitted or otherwise authorized to practice in this court, and I appear in this case as counsel for Plaintiff Laura Loomer,\u201d the December 15 filing reads. <\/p>\n

The Florida Supreme Court suspended the Judicial Watch founder\u2019s law license for two years for conflict-of-interest issues and other violations during his representation of a woman in a 2010 sexual harassment lawsuit in Washington, D.C. Under the November 6 order, Klayman had 30 days to close his Florida practice. While Klayman told New Times that he planned to challenge the order before the U.S. Supreme Court, he conceded that he would have to step away from Loomer\u2019s case should the order stand. The Florida Bar website<\/a> states that Klayman is not eligible to practice law in Florida.<\/p>\n

Enter Frederick Sujat. <\/p>\n

According to his LinkedIn profile<\/a>, Sujat is a financial services attorney who \u201cinteracts with government regulators, and delivers timely and accurate legal advice to the senior management team and their operational units on banking and finance statutes and regulations, assuring that company loan marketing strategies, New loan products, servicing, and originations are compliant.<\/p>\n

\u201cExperience spans leadership positions for Fortune 500 and smaller-sized companies, including banks, consumer finance companies, insurance companies, and mortgage servicing businesses,\u201d his bio continues.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s unclear whether Klayman is still part of Loomer\u2019s legal team, as he is still listed as counsel on the court docket. Neither Sujat nor Klayman returned New Times\u2018 requests for comment.<\/p>\n

In her federal lawsuit, Loomer alleges Maher defamed her last year by suggesting that she and President Donald Trump were having an affair<\/a>. The case was initially filed in Sumter County court before being transferred to federal court in November 2024.<\/p>\n

During the episode of Real Time with Bill Maher in question, Maher said he believed Loomer is in an \u201carranged relationship to affect the election.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause she\u2019s very close to Trump, she\u2019s 31, looks like his type,\u201d he said. \u201cWe did an editorial here a few years ago\u2026.It was basically, \u2018Who\u2019s Trump fucking?\u2019 Because, I said you know: it\u2019s not nobody. He\u2019s been a dog for too long, and it\u2019s not Melania. I think we may have our answer this week. I think it might be Laura Loomer. I\u2019m just saying.\u201d<\/p>\n

Her complaint claimed that Maher\u2019s statements \u201cseverely harmed and damaged\u201d Loomer\u2019s reputation. <\/p>\n

\u201cIn this statement, Defendant Maher makes the false statement that Ms. Loomer is in a sexual relationship with Donald Trump, who is a married man,\u201d the complaint reads. \u201cThus, Defendant Maher has falsely and maliciously accused Ms. Loomer of having committed adultery with Donald Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Fort Lauderdale-based attorney Frederick Sujat has joined Loomer’s legal team after attorney Larry Klayman’s suspension.
