FISH of Sanibel-Captiva recently provided a helping hand to a Sanibel couple recovering from surgery by delivering nutritious meals, needed medical equipment and a \u201cget well\u201d box with comfort items.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen someone on the island needs a little extra help \u2014 like a warm meal, a walker or just a friendly voice checking in \u2014 we\u2019re here,\u201d Senior Services Director Erika Arnowitz said. \u201cWe\u2019re neighbors helping neighbors, and that sense of community is what makes Sanibel and Captiva so special.\u201d<\/p>\n
Through its Senior Services program, FISH supports islanders in maintaining their independence, health and well-being. Services include meal delivery, medical equipment loans, transportation to appointments and errands, wellness checks, and social programs designed to reduce isolation and connect seniors with one another, like the Friendly Faces Luncheons and educational workshops.<\/p>\n
FISH noted that beyond senior care, it serves the wider island community \u2014 residents, workforce members and visitors \u2014 through its four pillars of service:<\/p>\n
\u2013 Food Programs, including the food pantry, holiday food baskets and youth backpack program<\/p>\n
\u2013 Island-Based Education, offering workshops and resources for all ages<\/p>\n
\u2013 Helping Hands, providing financial assistance, continuing education scholarships and emergency support<\/p>\n
\u2013 Senior Services, offering compassionate care and connection for older adults<\/p>\n
